Capturing Excellence: The UWA 2021 Honors Day Video

In 2021, the event took on a new dimension with the creation of a meticulously crafted video that showcased the achievements of students and the spirit of the institution. This case study delves into the strategic planning, coordination, and creative execution that went into producing the UWA 2021 Honors Day video.

Project Management and Coordination: As the project manager, I spearheaded the collaboration of over 30 student organizations, college deans, esteemed professors, and even the University President, Dr. Ken Tucker. Central to the success of the project was meticulous scheduling, ensuring that each participant’s availability aligned with the production timeline. This involved numerous meetings, email correspondence, and calendar coordination efforts to secure commitments from all stakeholders.

Creative Scripting and Filming: To maintain consistency and coherence in messaging, I meticulously scripted each interviewee’s dialogue, ensuring it resonated with the overarching theme of the event. Utilizing a teleprompter facilitated smooth delivery and adherence to the script during filming sessions. These sessions were held against a green screen backdrop, enabling seamless integration during the editing phase while ensuring a cohesive visual aesthetic.

Post-Production and Integration: In the post-production phase, I meticulously keyed in each individual to harmonize with the iconic UWA welcome sign, instilling a sense of unity and identity. Lower thirds containing each interviewee’s name and title were diligently inserted, enhancing viewer comprehension and engagement. Additionally, graphics highlighting the honorees mentioned by each interviewee were incorporated, fostering a deeper connection between the audience and the individuals being celebrated.

Impact and Reception: The impact of these efforts was profound, as evidenced by the video’s remarkable reception, garnering over 39K views across social media platforms. Moreover, the video served as a platform to recognize the achievements of 485 students and involved the participation of 82 organizations, solidifying its significance within the University community.
